On the above data base, my great-grandmother's cause of death is given as "maemia" - I cannot find out what it means by Googling. A fellow genealogist's ancestor died of "paedotrophia" - and she cannot find out what that is, either. Is it possible that the British concentration camp authorities wrote down any medical-sounding words they could devise to disguise the fact that people were dying like flies of starvation and so on? Or are those really medical terms?
