I like D for plausibility.
But the deep recesses of my brain (such as they are) say the real answer is F. Early printed works. VERY early.
I vote for F. Honorable mention for D.

It's the avatar of a component of a mechanical apparatus, (designed by child prodigies), that measures, among other things, the dimensions of rabbit brains, the depth of shoreline depressions and the proportions of the typographical characters that are used to replicate ancient documents from the Fertile Crescent.
