OK, I've got three takers, now - and where two or three are gathered together ...

So: what do you make of

INCUNABULUM

PM your answers to me by 12 noon (EST) on Sunday 27 November
(That'll be 5 pm for me - just before my bed time. wink )

Dear mister Rhuby. This looks like plain Ladin to me. Are you sure this is an English dictionary word?

Yup. Straight out of the OED, no less. It is, of course, a Latin loan word, like so many in our language but has been in use for some time.

EDIT: The latin word from which it derives means something rather different from its "English" meaning, BTW. So those of you with a Classical education don't really have much of an advantage, pehaps?

Thank you, all. I have four, now - I could really do with another two or three, at least. Please? whistle

No probs, Candy - you're well within the time limit, and thank you for your entry.

That's five - can I have just one more, please? - pretty please? That'll make six with the correct definition, which would make it very nice.

Don't forget, all y'all out there, you don't have to have entered a daffynition to try and select the correct answer. The more the merrier! laugh laugh laugh grin

I remember the day when I had to beg for a place in the hogwash. Also some bribes were involved, I think.. I'm still incurabulum hooked on that silly game. Where are you now, those who denied me a place in the pig's arena? whistle
