There is a word for someone who STARTS the applause at a concert – this is usually a person planted in the audience for just that reason, to start the applause. What is the word?????
another easy one: "official applause starter-upper"
[sorry]

So sorry, I don't think that is it, but I appreciate the effort! I found this word about 10 years ago in one of those "Word A Day" calendars. Can't remember what the word was.

aside: you might actually hire one of these if you also purchase a krotoscope.
Thanks for the welcome! I'm a nut for words and word games.
Then you should enjoy this site.

I'd like some of those at my funeral instead of hired mourners.
Ceci n'est pas un seing.
Oh yes! I'd like to see that. (not that I want you dead, au contraire, but the image, the idea!)Has it ever been done in a movie?

If the clacker thing you speak is the same "clicker" nuns used
in elementary school, yes it's been done, but not at a funeral,
merely to get the students to stand and sit, etc.
I'd not want them at my funeral, tho' preferable to hired
mourners, too many bad experiences with the nunny poos.

lots of these have been filmed.
Not exactly an applause but certainly a vivid celebration. Oh my!- even when dead that would make me very seasick.
As a brass player, this strikes me as just right.
