Funny you should ask.

Your posting came through as an email to me, but was not
on the site when I clicked it on. The same must have
happened to Candy. We got the email but not the posting
on the anagram thread. Thanks for asking.

If you would like to take it back to plain "A", be our
guest, or go from wherever you'd like to pick it up. On the
email it had you with just the letter A. Add or subtract,
I won't object and Candy is at a wedding so she won't
be around for awhile.

And I won't object either. Just add a letter and re-arrange, or subtract a letter and re-arrange, or change a letter and re-arrange. Or don't re-arrange if you still have a word - up to you. And lately we've even been re-arranging without changing anything.

Occasionally someone gets huffy because of two changes at once but even then no one really minds, we just tease a bit and please don't take it personally because no one means it seriously.

And Luke - Jackie posted this back on the now-obsolete "Anagrams IV" thread but in case you didn't get there (because it is obsolete) I'm re-presenting it here. It's detailed instructions on how to make a long link shorter, so it doesn't broaden the display into grouchy overlengthiness:

First--don't use the Quick Reply box at the bottom of the page--this used to work for me when I'd hit Switch to Full Reply Screen, but now all I get is a completely white page with nothing on it at all. So--

1.) Copy (Ctrl + C) the address of the link you want to post.

2.) Hit the Reply button at the bottom of the post.

3.) In the bar above the text-typing box, click on the second-from-the-left icon--the thing that resembles a globe. This will bring up a tiny Script Prompt box*.

4.) Paste (Ctrl + V) the address into the little bar that will have http:// in it--you won't have to get rid of that first, I don't think.

5.) Click OK. The next part is what took me a long time and many instructions from Jo to get, although you can see that all I had to do was read the darned thing:

6.) The little white bar will go blank--not to worry, it has saved your URL. Into this, type some appropriate word(s)--the instructions on the box itself tell you to enter the title of the web page you're linking to.

7.) Click OK again. The link will appear in your text box where you left your cursor. In this box you will see a bunch of "extra" stuff--it will not show in your post: just your title word(s) will.

It is a good idea to Preview: this allows you to click on your title word and see if your linked page will come up or not.

If you need more details, holler.

*My computer's security won't let me simply put in a link or an image without opening this yellow bar asking me if I'm sure I want to do it. I just click on it then click the yes option.

I would need to print all that out and post it on post
it notes and take it one step at a time. I'll just
refrain from posting sites. I can't get all this down.
Too much technology for me. I appreciate it Jackie, but
I am still working on the other stuff you've sent over the
last few months, and not getting very far.

Sorry, wofa..., I did not do that widestuff intentionally.
I don't know how it happened, and when I tried to edit
and delete, the site would not let me do it. I have been
teaching myself computer, no help except here with Jackie
and Candy. I cannot do this stuff without seeing it done.
I am a visual learnier: this tab into slot stuff is too far
over my head. I did not mean to do it, and won't post
sites in the future.

Actually, you shouldn't need to avoid posting site references even if you do get long names sometimes.

As with so much on the computer, whatever you need, somebody's probably already done it for you.

I found this site by looking up "short url" (click here) so you should only need one Post-it note, with this address on it.

(Assuming nothing -- forgive me if it's unnecessary -- " http://www.shorturl.com ", the name of the site, is a "URL", which stands for "Universal Resource Locator". This one happens to be relatively short.)

Then you just do what it says there, a one-step operation involving some cutting-and-pasting.

Give it a try, before you decide you must limit yourself.

funny, but this is the second time today, Schrodinger has come into conversation. How weird is that!
We were discussing cats names and I happen to ask if anyone knew the name of Schrodinger Cat.... (me knowing the answer all along wink )

I'm sorry for using this site for all my woes, but what
is this site for? Do I type something into it, before
posting a site, or something like that???

SALVE

if you have a link address that;s too long, and you'd like to replace it with one that's shorter and fits better, this will keep your original destination but point to it with a shorter name.. So instead of writing "Go HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERERERERERERERERERERERERERERREREREREREREEEEEEEEEEEEEERERERERERERERERERERERRERERERERE" you get "Go Here", which works the same but looks better.

You put in a HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE and it gives you a HERE that goes to the same site.
