one reply would be appreciated (more than one would be superflous under current test conditions). TIA.

I was just wondering if how one "backs out" of a thread has any effect on the cookie botchulism that seems to be ongoing; i.e., using the browser Go back button vs. using the board's ^Index buttons, etc. so I started this thread to monkey around with. (prolly should have put it in Animal Safari..)

my theory is more of a conjecture, or rather a speculation; but it's *my theory.

My pet theory has been preempted by my landlord's pet theory. His pet theory is that pets are destructive and his renters shouldn't have any.
I don't think I want to test him on this...

BTW, this is my one reply.

Does cookie botchulism have anything to do with baking a botch of cookies? My only other comment is that theories make better pets than peeves do.

Cookies make good pets too. You don't have to feed them ... they feed you!!! Ha ha. I'm so clever.

I have a bunch of wild pets eating me out of house and home.
With the cold and the snow, the pets at the bird feeders,
including rabbits and squirrels are amassing in greater
numbers than usual. Only a few minutes ago I noticed the
wild turkeys are back: eight of them. I would not mind
them so much, but they leave a slick behind them worse
than the ice. Definitely not pet material.

At least you could eat them if that snow continues... wink

I gag at the thought of de-feathering them, whatever
that may be called.

plucking...my neighbour goes beating every weekend and gets a free shoot every so often - he is a brilliant shot and they have a freezer full of pheasants and has some hanging up outside (which is like a giant freezer at the moment!) every so often they have a pheasant party and everyone on our lane goes over to eat up a load of their pheasants...

Yes, giant freezer outside.
That is the only benefit of the weather. Something usually
bursts or explodes or leaks in my chest freezer, and during
this season I can take the food out, defrost and clean
the freezer, and replace the food.
Turkey plucking would not be my thing. Guess I'd not make
much of a pioneer.....living off the land.

You could always eat canned meat that you "found" in the "wild"...I had a pet rock once, but it melted... frown

On one side of my rock it says: "Quick, Turn Me Over!"
and on the other: "Whew! Thanks, I needed that."

I tamed a wild rock about fifteen years ago. I carry it in my pocket most of the time, and always when I'm performing somewhere. I'm not in the least superstitious, I just like it. It is much, much smoother than when I first wrestled it to the ground.

Did you watch the movie Inception?
The plot was.... a team of highly skilled agents would enter the subconsciousness mind of a subject with the view of extracting and stealing valuable secrets while interacting in the 'dream' which was manipulated.
My point is.....each 'agent' would carry something personal that only they knew, that kept them grounded, so they would recognise what was 'real' or what was the manufactured 'dream'. Much like your pet rock in your pocket, Peter.

I've not seen inception yet.
But I know in rehab the 'chips" (coin-like)we give out
for 30 days, 2 months, etc. are carried like "talismans".
Native Americans had their "medicine bags".

Positive reinforcement. A person is given one for
24 hours sober/clean, then a month, 2 months, 3 months.
Then 1,2,3,etc. years. When given they are usually passed
around to everyone in the room, and these put their
karma, luck, prayers, etc. on it for the person, who
then may carry it in pocket, wallet etc. as inspiration
to keep sobriety. The ones in this site are for Alcoholics
Anonymous, but most of the 12 Step programs have them:
Gamblers Anon, Overeaters A., Computers Anon., Online Gamers
Anon., Shopaholics Anon., Narcotics A., Cocaine A., etc.

I have become addicted to an online jigsaw puzzle site (jigzone). So many variations for one puzzle - types of cuts, number of pieces etc. The onliest problem is dragging a piece really slows you down. In real life you would just pick it up, but then here you can choose cuts!!

Do the pieces all go in the same direction? Or do you have
to turn them around clockwise/counterclockwise to make
them fit?

Thanks for explanation Luke. Addiction must be a hard road to travel and any positive reinforcement must be good.

Two concepts fit addiction: "pre-occupation", and "compulsion".
If, eg., an alcoholic cannot wait for the 5 pm closing
bell so as to have a drink, that is pre-occupation.
"I'll just have one more" is compulsion. Both can equal
addiction.

I have one that says: "Please, turn me over".
on the opposite side it says: "Ah, that's so much better".

A "soul mate"? Yes, Peter, what about it. (Still influenced
by London yesterday.)

I have a stone with a fossiled trilobite I once got from a person dear to me. I don't wear it in my pocket cause it is fragile and very very old. It brings no luck nor ill fate. It is just beautiful.

Yours appears to be a double or two of them.
I have one as well. I keep it on a knick-knack shelf.
Nice pictures, Bran.

I like the double, because I can defocus my eyes and it becomes 3D!
