Why doesn't it count to say "I admire" ??
I guess it counts, but then there are usually a whole bunch of different and not so different ways to say many things. Why? Are "Leave!", "Get out of here!", and "Scram!" literally the same in meaning, but all slightly different in tone or register? Why do people curse or use euphemism or dysphemism? Why do some rail on the conspiritoriality of perceived politically correct speech? How and why does slang arise?

Why doesn't it count to say "I admire" ?? That is much preferred, as far as I am concerned. I'd never say "man-crush" in real live conversation.
