I'm disappointed with my entry.... Well--what you described are actually called twizzle sticks, here. I just thought it was a bit too close.

Ruh roh--you're right! I had conflated that with Twizzlers, I reckon. Thanks.

I too have never heard them called "twizzle" sticks, always "swizzle" sticks.

I eliminated G just because it sounded more like someone trying to describe the thing than like a dictionary definition. I would have done that more like: toozle – A small stick, commonly made of plastic, used to stir mixed drinks or garnish cocktails. It has a pointed end designed to skewer fruit and a decorative head. So called from its use in the Caribbean cocktail, Rum Toozle

swizzle stick actually has a OL index of 26! (and the Quick definition is 'a small stick used to stir mixed drinks')

the most boring daffy of the lot; Alice: curiouser... etc. I tried for the real one this time and I thought your one interesting. I even looked at my scissors closely and the screw there isn't an ordinary screw which ( I know now ) is also called 'nut'. (but it might have been called toozle for my taste as well) scissors@ Faldage, thanks a lot; one more for a hat trick.

Who knew there was such a complete description of scissors and the nut which holds them together?

I believe all of the scissors in our house have a screw and not an adjustable nut. (just wanted to use the plural of scissors. : )

I don't know my scissors well enough to say, and am not going to do an inventory, someone would get left out.
