I'm an old guy, and my father was a NYC cop for almost 40 years. I heard him use the word, "yegg," to describe bad guys once in a while, never to specify a particular kind of bad guy. It was the only definition that seemed to fit.

Sorry for the long hiatus on my part (but who among us would be really happy with a short hiatus?) - I've been involved up to my eyeballs in another computer project.
