Yeah. That's we we allow homophones in the language. There's certainly no phonetics involved when you spot someone using the wrong to/too/two or there/their/they're. You might, as an interesting extra-credit project, try listening for situations where the context is ambiguous and see if other distinctions are made to resolve the ambiguity.
