He was a sprightly 187 when he fathered Lamech. And, since Lamech was Noah's father and we're all descended from Noah, Methuselah is the great-grand-daddy of us all. Also, of the seven generations before Methuselah, only one, fifth generation Maholalol, died younger than 900 years. And he lasted to 895. Methuselah, BTW, died in the year of the flood. Whether in the flood is not noted.
