I have the same problem entering chat rooms, Bingley. So far, my own software difficulty is undiagnosed, but everyone has suggested to me a solution which might answer your problem. If you are running on windows and explorer, be sure that java script is enabled. On the toolbar menu of explorer, under tools - internet options, and depending on which level of software you are running, scroll until you find the java script enable click box, or go to the security tab, then internet custom settings, then click enable java.
