I'd never heard of 'Turducken' (Turkey is'nt big down these parts) which got me wondering what the criteria for new words was. Dords aside, this from the OED:
The rule of thumb is that a word can be included in the OED if it has appeared at least five times, in five different sources, over a period of five years.
Occasionally, a word springs up which is instantly prevalent and seems likely to last, and in this case exceptions are made. A good example is the term AIDS, which emerged in the mid-eighties and entered the dictionary almost immediately.
'Turducken' sounds more like an Urban dictionary candidate to me. Summer and Summaint. My 'Halfabucks' worth.

Turducken or not turducken. Here are a coupla alternatives, Chuckurkey - sounds like a place chickeyduck - too cute duckturken - an afrikaans vet Turducken wins. I believe turducken was chosen because it has its parts in the same order as they appear when made. :0) And just to maybe drop your jaw a bit: "The largest recorded nested bird roast is 17 birds, attributed to a royal feast in France in the early 19th century (originally called a Rôti Sans Pareil, or "Roast without equal") - a bustard stuffed with a turkey, a goose, a pheasant, a chicken, a duck, a guinea fowl, a teal, a woodcock, a partridge, a plover, a lapwing, a quail, a thrush, a lark, an Ortolan Bunting and a Garden Warbler. The final bird is small enough that it can be stuffed with a single olive; it also suggests that, unlike modern multi-bird roasts, there was no stuffing or other packing placed in between the birds. This dish probably could not be legally recreated in the modern era as many of the listed birds are now protected species." Name THAT! I dare you! ;0)

They didn't have to. They just said they could. But now that we know, would you prefer black or green?

Name THAT!
It has a name already: Rôti Sans Pareil. What's wrong with that. I once had an omelet made from a plover's egg the size of a diamond. It tasted like chicken.

They said it was originally called that, so it's been called other things since, and may be called different names in the future. Oh, and what type of olive are you stuffed with?

it's like I said, some aren't (but I'd still like someone to gloss 'car-boot sale', which doesn't seem to be defined there at all, and I'm just guessing at flea market).

B&M OED lists swot, sb. as (1) school work and (2) one who studies hard. As a verb it is listed as 'to work hard at one's studies.'

My friend in West Yorkshire told me the term came about because groups of people will come to a designated place, line up their cars, then open the boots and sell out of them.
