READJUST

I was going to make TRADEUPS but that's either hyphenated or too cute or just plain forced...

So instead let's just retire it and consider it PASTURED.

This word is so funny to me! It's almost onomatopoetic, and who knows what crazy etymology it has! :0)

"to gush out, squirt," 1570, variant of spirt, perhaps cognate with M.H.G. spürzen "to spit," and sprützen "to squirt" (see sprout). The noun in this sense is attested from 1775.

Putting aside who M.H.G. (Middle Heights Germanic?) might be: D to O POSTURE ,thanks for onomatopotamos.

I'd love to make that into PROUST.

"Not Allowed! - that's capitalized!" comes the expected attack.

Okay, okay. I'll just have to change U to I for my RIPOSTE.

link Here vestigal is refered to as vestigal organs, though in the article vestigial is said to be the usual term. On from here:

VIGILANTE

Just adding another I for INVIGILATE seems so...straightforward.

Whereas changing G to E would be ELEVATING the entire conversation, wouldn't it?

I'm a biologist & have used and read 'vestigal' often for 20+ yrs. I didn't realize it's jargon. I guess I'll consider it a vestigal word from now on. blush

Coming to my own defense is so (v to n) inelegant.

Does NECTARINE to ENTRANCING work? The process would have to be
E --> NG, and that's not a permitted transition.
