Oh, my, I thought that's what we had been doing. Several times.
Rules:
Start with a word. It contains a bunch of letters.
(Some letters might be there more than once. Consider each repetition to be one letter. STREETS has E,E,R,S,S,T,T = seven letters.)
You may a)add one letter, or b)drop one letter, or c)change one letter to another. Only one of those three choices
Then you may, if you like, rearrange all the letters of the new bunch into another word.
The next person starts with that word and applies the rules again.
And so it goes.

I prefer STRIPES (adding S) but if you PERSIST in adding 'S' you could make 'persists.'

Thanks for helping out (ps Javan is my middle name: use it because it is easier to spell than my surname. But no offense taken. Thanks for responding. How about
SPRITE
as in elves? Does that play count? It counts; it's an anagram of ESPRIT. The rules say you may add, delete, or change, not that you must, and to rearrange ESPRIT into SPRITE is within them, though it's not what we've been doing most of the time. Again may I offer that if you discipline yourself to state just what you did to get from start to end, you will readily confirm that you've committed no violation. SPRITEadd an A PIASTER There - I did it myself!

BTW - apropos of not seeing the Roolz until now - I suspect it came from starting at the most recent posts in the thread and not seeing that already scrolled up the screen and out of view because of four or five intervening posts there were messages specifically in response to one of yours. I guess that's the reason they invented Threaded as opposed to Flat viewing.
(P.S. Mr Panjandrum: does this venue support threaded viewing? I haven't looked very hard, but I don't recall seeing it anywhere.)
