SOURTOOTHS would be a nice word if it were a word, but I don't think it is, so... anyone think of a real one?

Sorry folks! Guess I should have checked my spelling!

The SHOOTOUT was painful because I was OUTSHOT .

May I've been pushed out, but never outpushed. Things are certainly getting outsourced.

Change the U to another O, rearrange, and you're in HOUSTON
[ "hew-stun" in Texas, "how-stin" in NYC, take your pick ]

Depends on OUR aptitude. This could be one of the all time longest threads.

My grandmother used the term sourtooth, so it may be a word. Sort of like "down in the mouth". How long is the longest running thread???

Not listening [reading]! One may add, delete, or replace a letter. Multi-step definitions of 'replace' do not alter the option list.

TOTALS

TOTALS

Change O to E, rearrange and get LATEST, which is the word that should be modified.

Now if we can only work tht into "satellite"...

Yes that was heartless to take us back to 9 again! frown

firefighting would be a good one to aim for too... but not with the present bunch of letters...

Actually having _too_ many letters makes the choices a lot more limited. Six to eight letters or so would be a comfortable range, I should think, for optimum word selection and audience participation.

We're at TEARLESS, but I did figure out a three-step uses-a-proper-noun solution from LATEST to SATELLITE, which unfortunately this margin is too small to contain.

...

LATEST + E = SEATTLE
SEATTLE + L = STELLATE
STELLATE + I = SATELLITE

...

So hold your tears and lets get on with this never ending pretty and useless game. still intrigued about your steps to satellite

i also changed the E to T Olly, and came to startles, but i like
STARLETS better. My computer is still off for reinstallation. This, my son´s one has a malfunctioning keyboard. It´s getting me from the drizzle into the rain.hope you keep it going.

Oh, and is there an injunction against proper names?
