OP My professional society recently sent out posters to its member surgeons advising them to "stop, look, listen" before operating to avoid injury to patients. But when I stopped and looked at the poster I saw the word "chemoprophylaxsis."
Is this simply a misspelling of "chemoprophylaxis" or is -axsis an acceptable alternative, perhaps in the UK? I couldn't find -axsis listed in the standard and medical dictionaries I have available but it does show up when Googled. I'd like to be on solid ground before calling my society to task for a typo on a poster advising vigilance against errors.
