Does anyone know if there is a word for a Basket maker/weaver?
Back in the dim and distant past I thought the name was Osier - but modern dictionaries seem not to show this.

How about basketmaker? Osier is a kind of willow tree the twigs of which are used in basket weaving. If resort to foreign languages is desired: French vannier and German Korbflechter.

Yes basketweaver or basketmaker would be the logical choices. There is also the more obscure skepmaker or willower.

violin maker v.s. luthier horse shoer v.s. farrierbasket maker v.s. ??? Sure. Why use a specific term when a more general one is available? Maybe you should've looked them up.

Cribbed from a list online: basketman, fanwright, padmaker, ripper, rippier, swell maker trugger, whisket weaver, willow plaiter, willow weaver. Osier peelers (aka withy peelers) removed the bark from willow rods prior to the basket weaving. (Is V.S. an initialism for Vanilla Sky?)

trugger = a maker of trugs (OED2) trugger = tree hugger (UD)
I think the latter has more of a future..
-joe (trug has several senses, one of which is a very specific kind of basket) friday
