Have any of y'all read A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole? It's our next book club selection (IRL, I mean). I'm partway into it, and, while it's not the type of book I would normally enjoy, I can at least see the humor in it.
And I was just wondering what you-all may have thought. Apparently it's a true story, that the author's mother persevered until she got someone to publish it, years after her son's death.

The someone was Walker Percy. Yes, I've read it, and I enjoyed it. "Oh, my valve!"

I wrote an essay on it as "my favorite book" for a college application. Though it probably was one of my favorite books, I picked it to write about because I was living in New Orleans at the time and had some connections to Walker Percy's family which I shamelessly leveraged to make my essay more "interesting" (or so I thought at the time anyway).
