I was just wondering if there is a name for words which appear the same whether upside-down or rightside-up, such as "dip" or "pod"? Thanks! Fleet

I found "ambigram" wiki article , also modified by symmetrical and asymmetrical, and also the terms "inversion" and "flipscript". This was famously used in The Da Vinci Code. Aren't they cool? There's some real artistry involved in some of them. :0)

i am a new user and don't know how to "get permission" to start a new subject". I just want to know if you will send me an example of a sentence that is a metaphor.

Just click on the New Topic box on the page one level higher than this. A good place to go to find examples of various rhetorical devices, such as metaphor, is Silva Rhetoricae. Scroll down to metaphor in the right hand panel and you'll get several good ones.

Some lame examples I just couldn't resist. She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like the sound a dog makes just before it throws up.
Her vocabulary was as bad as, like, whatever.
He was as tall as a six-foot-three-inch tree.
Her hair glistened in the rain like a nose hair after a sneeze.
He walked into my office like a centipede with 98 missing legs.
Sorry

Technically those are similes. You are barking up the wrong tree. ( that's a metaphor) Similes anagrams are like smilies.

Just for a lesson's sake, I attempted to make them metaphors for comparison: She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like the sound a dog makes just before it throws up. She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh that was the sound a dog makes just before it throws up.Her vocabulary was as bad as, like, whatever. Her vocabulary was whatever. He was as tall as a six-foot-three-inch tree. He was a six-foot-three-inch tree. Her hair glistened in the rain like a nose hair after a sneeze. Her glistening hair was nose hair after a sneeze. He walked into my office like a centipede with 98 missing legs. Walking into my office, he was a centipede with 98 missing legs. But I have to say, they make much better similes than metaphors, which demonstrates that there is a time and place for every literary device. Olly, I especially like the first one and the fourth one... he he :0)
