Anyone know the word that describes words that are a brand name that have become the generic name? Kleenex, Band-Aid and Scotch Tape are examples that pop into my mind. I heard the word once, but forgot it.
Reminds me of a certain thread about the correct declension of 'Lego'.
genericized trademark, a form of metonymy, and genericide (with lots more examples).
