There was an advertisement in our local paper last week that said:

Contractor Wanted
To wickwipe large area
of sags immediately

????say what????

Anyone have any idea what this means?
It sounds painful.

Wickwiping is a type of application using a wick or cloth to apply herbicide. The idea being not to create unintentional spillage on other plants. As for sags... could be colloquial.

In aquarium circles, sag is a common shortening of the plant genus Sagittaria as in "My dwarf sags are turning yellow - what should I do?".

Yes I learned today from locals that sags are weeds. I don't know whether this is purely local, or Tasmanian, or a wider colloquialism. Coming from another state I had never heard it used before, so I'm assuming it's Tasmanian.

A wickwipe is an agricultural-sized version of a weed wand.
