spotted in OED online today, under petulcous:
1997 Chronicle Short Story Reject #2 in austin.general (Usenet newsgroup) 20 July, The petulcous lowbrow with AIDS and the first-ever reported case of self-inflicted peotomy in front of a crowd.
can we now safely assume that anyone can be cited in the OED?

"The weave [of the cleansing cloth] is designed to remove material from patulous pores common on the central face." - Dermatology Times, v. 23, 2002
Now that you brough up petulcous I hope I can bring these quoted lines here. I thought about that 'central face' part. What would 'the central face' be exactly? What part?
(a strictly medical concept?)

I think the technical term is 'nose' isn't it?

Well, Pook and Bran, most female (American-English speaking) types will know what I'm talking about here. There is an area known as the "T-zone", infamous for its annoyingly oily characteristic, and tendency to "break out" (get zittified... he he he). This zone includes the nose, but also the forehead above the nose and extending horizontally over the eyebrows. Maybe this is to what they were referring?

The T-zone is T-shaped. The central face could simply be "away from the hair-line" - perhaps the weave [of the cleansing cloth] does not get along well with the more follicularly populous areas.

Yes, I commented on the words because the face to me seems so much a whole thing that I was surprised it would be devided into sections and wondered where the 'borders' would ly. I guess professionals dealing with faces have to make those distinctions.

Even definitions of the face vary. In physical anthropological terms it is bounded by the depression at the top of the bridge of the nose at the top and the upper gums at the bottom and by the outermost point of the cheeks at the side. The forehead, mouth and chin are not part of the face.
