Ran across this deleting old email:

This week's theme: words that have many unrelated meanings.

fizgig (FIZ-gig) noun

1. A squib:...firework.....
2. A kind of top.....
3. A flirty, frivolous girl....
4. A kind of harpoon....
5. A police informer....

I didn't know how to place a tilde above the = sign

it's perfectly valid (and understandable) to approximate
this as =~ (defined as 'equals approximately)

-joe (define your terms) friday

Unicode character 0x2245: ≅ ... Under Windows, the Start > Programs > Accessories > Character Map application is your friend.

hmm, can't seem to find that on the mac, other than as an html character, which doesn't display:

≅

what's it called, btw?

The Unicode character is called Approximately Equal To. The XML entity, ≅, probably stands for congruence.

tsu: Thank you, I was glad to hear that as I resent all the keystroking one has to go thru (as zm suggests) to find an obscure symbol

zm: Thank you for that link but it only gives me

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
