When an anniversary falls on the same day as it did originally, is there a special WORD for that occurrence? For instance, this year, September 11 fell on a Tuesday, like it did in 2001. Our son's 23rd birthday was this past Saturday. He was born on a Saturday. Is there a special word for an event when it falls on its original day?

but it wasn't the same day.

sept 11 2001 was cool, and crisp and clear.. sever clear in air traffic jargon..
the previous day was muggy, and rainy and disagreeable.

Sept 11 2001 was a beautiful (physically) day.

this year, sept 11 was cold, wet and rainy. the rain started before 6 am, and continued all day, heavy (very heavy!) at times.

yes, they were both tuesdays.. but it was just an anniversary.

Evidently we dont have an abundance of experts. Otherwise you might try entering in OneLoook's reverse dictionary something like:

word anniversary day week

...though you'll elicit more responses than you can use, 99.99 percent of which are totally inapplicable. However, I doubt if there's such a word

daleh, why do you keep foisting that reverse dictionary on people since you seem to think so lowly of it?!

-joe (asking the tough ones) friday

p.s. - you'd get a lot *fewer results to have to wade through with just the word 'anniversary', and it would still give you *all the def'ns that contain that word. (with your string you get Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.. birthday, Boxing Day.. diligently(!), ad infinitum).

Apparently we don't have a word for it, which, of course, means that, according to the fundamentalist supporters of the orthodox heresy of Sapir-Whorfism, we can't conceive of the possibility.
