another word from Kacirk, attributed to J. Wright's English Dialect Dictionary, defined as "Mocking, jeering. Northumberland." I've found not much else that looks to be of any use, except for a couple of Robby Burns poems - and who knows what *he had in mind.
(I actually looked for Wright's 6 vol. work the last time I visited the MPL central library, and they had *lost* it - all six volumes - during their move to the new library site!)
