Brigadoon is a toponym from a non existant topo. So I think nobody would get hurt if I relocated Brigadoon somewhere in the Californian hills close to the Great or Pacific ocean.
Freshly back in cold dreary downpour land and still lagging around a bit aimlessly I put my idyllic nowhere right now in those hills where I've seen 33 days of blazing sunshine at a row against one day of rain.
I've never had this before in my life. Neither a sky of this infinite blue.It was ............ fabulous!
Whoever can guess what kind of birds are in that deep blue sky (magnifying glass and technical tricks allowed but no Bird Guide )will win the full Brigadoon jackpot.

Ah! You almost got it! Only a tiny difference in seize, feathers, beak, legs, feet and eyes, mating rituals, breeding habits and diving capacities.

(The whistle is for the manifest bonus clue)

Closer, closer. They belong to the same order, not the same family, but they share the same rocks peacefully.
And they are the same amazing divers.

BTW. Etaoin, Onelook reverse is very amusing. And useful.

As the competition for this easliy attainable jewel jackpot is as low as AWAD board on a sunday, the ful sum of nothingness will go to the two brave participants in equal amounts when this tread runs out.

Thank you so much for joining!

The Blue-footed Booby (Sula nebouxii) is a bird in the Sulidae family (order:
pelecaniformes) ,which comprises ten species of long-winged seabirds. It is on average 81 cm long and weighs 1.5 kg (3 lb), with the females slightly larger than the males.
The name “booby” comes from the Spanish term bobo, which means "stupid fellow".
This is because the Blue-footed Booby is clumsy on the land, and like other seabirds can be very tame.

You know there is no such one as a blue neck booby. I doubt you even meant a bird at all, but who cares. I saw the pelicans and cormorants, lots of creatures I never saw before and the giant trees and the tide pools with larger than life sea stars and the beautiful land and kind people and the sun never failed to shine and I will never forget it, so who cares.

Closer than the cormorant, but it's still another member of the order up in this air:
magnificat

Blue-footed booby
Yes, the ice-pack is a too far off-shore association for Californian Pelicans, but I guess that's Faldage's poetic liberty.

Califonia condors got nothing to do with it. I was merely remarking on BranShea's misnomering of the blue neck booby as a blue footed booby. The ice pack was a more topical substitute for the canonical iceberg.

I'm just assuming that there's a bird with a blue neck out there. Fald usually knows of which he speaks. I am more familiar with the blue-footed bird, however.

Yes Anna, I was aware of that connection at this quoted point.
It was for the association with the red-footed (necked ) booby I called it a heart warming rhyme.

The only misnomering done in ths case was naming Faldage a poet and I think that was not appreciated. No need for this mysticism.

I, too, was (immediately) aware of the red-necked booby connection. I, too, think there was no need for the underappreciated mysticism.
