John Rochat's theory of Consonantal drift deserves serious study. How does he classify Hebrew, a modernized, ancient language which is written without vowels. Thus the words "Hebrew newspaper" in a Hebrew newspaper, reads "Hbrw nwsppr". (In Hebrew letters, of course). Do vowels which are heard but not seen drift to other languages such as English where they are often seen but not heard, like most final 'e's?
