At three minutes and four seconds after 2 a.m. on the 6th. of May this year, the time and date will be 02:03:04 05/06/07.

June 5th. for those who notate British-fashion.

and just after noon (a more civilized hour) it will be
12:34 5/6. Ok so its one digit shorter, but it's an easier time to share!

Timeshare? Timeshare! AUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-)

I do like the 123456, though--it's cleaner. Although the zeros can add a nice rhythm.

Hey Jackie, before you "wow" note that BranShea is notating British fashion. Is that allowed?

Are you sure it's not Asian fashion?

I'm pretty sure. Asians use Far Eastern Standard Time.

No matter where you are in the Western world,
somewhere in the Asian world it is yesterday.

07:07:07/07/07/08

See!

Grew up thinking it was the only fashion, ,till I started receiving American letters. Still have to look twice at American dates.

Code:
No matter where you are in the Western world,
somewhere in the Asian world it is yesterday.

And about half the American day is yesterday to me , milo!

I understand your euro-confusion, BranShea. I think that it is because nobody has bothered to explain to you people across the pond the exacting logic of putting the day after the month, so I will...

Which of these date constructions is the more concise?

The Seventh day of June of the year Two thousand and Seven.

Or,

June, Seven, Two thousand Seven.

See?

This American short-cut was invented by Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and Robert E Lee, a long time ago and has since been adopted by Asians and other progressive folks.

In digits it looks equally concise to me. And in words...
The seventh of June of Two thousand Seven sounds nicer to me than :

June! Seven! Two thousand Seven!

Of course I appreciate ah! and respect your efforts to convince me.

07:07:07 07/07/07 Sextuple -07? Sort of puts James Bond to shame.

Doe no bout chew, but I'm sticking with oftroy's 12:34 5/6/7.

I will not... I refuse to write the date as 05/06/07. What a bunch of wasted "0"s.... especially the 7, as I find a number of peeps writing 5/6/07... Of course typing into a data field one has mostly no choice.

crossthreading like mad, that's pronounced "no zeroes."

Actually, we say "June seventh, 2007" not "June, Seven, 2007" - flows quite nicely and eliminates a thee and two uv's. As another tortured (il)logical argument, I present the following two lists:
apple 1
apple 2
apple 3
...
vs
1 apple
2 apple
3 apple
...

Well, dunno 'bout that... if I'm forced to write it with my arm pushed up behind my back, I parbably default to "5/7/2k".
