Hi, I love the Latin words of this week's theme--who says Latin is a dead language?!
I'm always amused by a very funny and deceptively insightful comedy from Canada called The Red Green Show which featured its own unique form of a Latin motto, "Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati" which meant "When all else fails, play dead".
Just out of curiosity, would anyone know what the real Latin translation of that motto might be?

Well, since flunkus isn't really a Latin word, there's really no real Latin translation for it. I'm not that much of a Latin expert but moritati looks a little ill-formed to me. I'd stick with "when all else fails, play dead."

This reminds me of non carborundum illegitimi and variations thereof: "Don't let the bastards get you down."

I took this to be asking for the "real Latin" for "When all else fails, play dead".

I'd say: Quando omnia defecta sunt, mortuus simulate.

Hi Aimee, here's another piece of pseudo-Latin for you. Quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si marmota monax materiam possit materiari. (hee hee)

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

If you search on Amazon at other booksellers you will find that there are a few books out there with Latin phrases for modern situations, stuff like "Damn, I've lost my iPod." You might also enjoy Fairy Tales in Latin. [Hey, I'm a (Winnie the) Pooh-Bah! When did that happen?]
