word: I couldn't help but remark how often the same has occurred to me. For some reason I remembered inhabitants were sorely disappointed that much of their literature seemed flat when Attaturk switched from the beautiful Aabic script to Latin alphabet

You remembered that? You were in Turkey when that happened?
