It sounds a bit like a ceilidh (kayley)which traditionally is an informal musical and story telling get-together of friends and neighbours in the Scottish Highlands. A dying custom because of the dilution of the Gaelic culture by southern immigrants. Now,a 'ceilidh' generally means the same as a concert or an evening of arranged entertainment. Not so much fun really.
