Can anyone add to this list of -ine animal adjectives? Quote:

Wow, M--quite a list: full of acumine  . But you forgot annotine. Oh, never mind--that's a noun. So, what's the diff. bet. aspine and viperine , please? The ASp isn't a viper? (sorry, Anna! Couldn't resist.) And how come ostracine (oysters) doesn't mean ostriches? Is it related to ostracize?

ostracine, I assume, is from Greek ostrakion, small shell.
the asp is a small viper, I think; either it's Greek vs. Latin, or those zo-ologists just can't agree on things.
edit: ostrich is from L. avis struthio; the adj. appears to be struthionine, struthious, or ratite. (there they go again.)

in the same vein, zebras may be zebrine or hippotigrine; tigers may be feline or tigrine (Felis tigris, you see).
