more than the 20-volume hard copy is on line, which is to say they're in the process of updating online -- the only limitation is that it's difficult to browse.

perhaps you mean that subscriptions cost; but free access is available through many libraries.

have you seen our own maxq's Where can I look it up? (he lists WWW under QUINION.)
