...meaning "as I see it...", yielding nearly 30,000 hits. Yet we don't find it in the usu slang/phrase dictionaries, and I had never heard it

Of course I don't get around much. However, is it your opinion that can I conclude that the expr is nonetheless pretty well established

Surely it would usually mean "the way I do things" rather than "as I see it...", though I can see someone saying - "I don't agree with him, but that's just the way I roll".

Doesn't really sound like it qualifies as a very set expression to me which would explain its omission from any slang dict., but it is rather just a popular slang word's meaning (to roll) in a specific use. These usages are always very flexible and quickly changing and therefore often defy textbook definitions. See words like 'grill' (e.g. 'You're all in my grill'), and stack (e.g. 'I stack like that').
