Translation as Negotiation. Amongst many other things, he discusses the experience of being translated, how he works with his translators, and his opinions of some of their efforts. This was before Mr. Brock came on the scene, though, when William Weaver was his English translator. I remember a couple of places in The Name of the Rose, when I thought the translator must be keeping too close to the Italian.
