At another site on another day a contributor was shredded limb from limb for his Political Incorrectness when his thread included a phrase asserting that God might not be entirely satisfied with "Bush and the Muslims"
So the contributor issued a followup explaining that the phrase was by no means intended to affront anyone's religion but was meant only to stand as an icon or symbol for all the recent political turmoil in, of, or pertaining to the Mideast
Even our President occasionally grazes PI, referring to "'...our efforts to ...reduce the appeal of radical Islam,'" whereupon his Press Office stumbles all over itself in embarrassment: "The White House hastened to correct Bush's reference to Pakistan as an Arab nation, and said he meant to say Muslim."--AP
Partly out of the vigilant wave of caution currently enveloping the Establishment and partly owing to the hypersensitivity of certain world ideologies, in the name of Political Correctness it now seems requisite to tiptoe in the expression of political humor and so temper what we used to call "free speech" as to render it unrecognizable
Again, however, the time-honored persiflage and looseness of the American political bent should not be construed as censure of any religious belief, as so interpreted by societies unfamiliar with our traditions of intellectual freedom. However, we’re sorry they feel that way

Just to be perfectly clear and honest: "a contributer" == dalehileman "might not be entirely satisfied with X" == considers the creation of X a mistake
After which dalehileman received a private message from an Arabic member of the site, which dilehileman then proceeded to post publicly.
Dale, this is I think the third post of yours that's basically "look how bad I'm being treated on this other site". What's the point?

No matter how you label it, dalehileman, this is a post with politics at its core, the language really has nothing to do with the issue. I'm not suggesting that the mere mention of religion and/or politics is "uncalled for" in any way (life truly doesn't exist without some form of *relationship ), but specifically because you ended your post with: However, we’re sorry they feel that way. I'm not sure who you believe the "we" are being represented there, but at this site it's not PC pressure that colors commentary... it's the underlying subjects which draw a line that most individuals (here) would rather not cross. This keeps *our collective blacks, whites and greys from being dyed and/or bled upon. Personally, however, I feel PC has no basis in my relationships. Creativity, respect for others, self preservation and (perhaps but not always) being understood ... these guide my words. These are internal requisites. The words of one person are often as important as a culture of a billion, and PC often seems to be just a *teaching tool used by those who feel they aren't being represented. Indeed, one can only represent themselves.

>Indeed, one can only represent themselves. not to turn this into a word thread; but use of the *impersonal pronoun in this particular case just really rankles. like, do you often refer to *yourself as neutered, plural musick?

..err... One can only represent "oneself... themself..?
"A person" can only..? (I prefer "one" to that)...
Are you stating.. that impersonal pronoun has *virtually no use?
... please unrankle yourself with a *better sounding/fitting suggestion. It does, to me, seem to make more sense here as I was making a specific point about being "singular".

Is T concerned that one is representing others, in this particular case?

I don't know how the white eyes count the selfs up nawth but down here in Dixie one speaks, votes, and articulates grammatical rules only for their own self. I know because I are one.

> I know because I are one. Thank gob for your singularity, Milo – there have already been too many cases of multiple personality disorder around here! :] > (perhaps but not always) being understood LOL! We would all be the poorer without such *finely tuned confusion… :]

Myr, You are absolutely right. How fortunate are we to have members like you to point out our flaws in order than we may correct our behavior
