My idea of a gifted writer in this context is someone who can express a complex idea succinctly using simple words. Humor in general, and especially puns, would seem more appropriately used sparingly in legal documents, like the tiniest pinch of saffron in a stew. Big words should also be used sparingly and when no common alternative will do, such as to express a subtle shade of meaning.
