Speaking of censorship, Troy's "bitc" below brings up one of my pet peeves
I'm wondering if anyone else is as po'd as I am about the excessive cleanliness of the Microsoft Word thesaurus
For instance try entering words like penetrate, couple, masturbate, mate, climax, ejaculate; or even urinate, defecate, toilet; pot, marijuana; etc. Must be thousands upon thousands of such totally bowdlerized areas
Bill, it's not as if PC memory is still limited to 16 kb; ask one of your gnomes, he will tell you about the modern hard drive (no pun)
It's as if you're an ardent evangelical Neocon and had hired a cadre of ancient, prissy third-grade teachers to compile your word-processor algorithms. Bill, we're well into the 21st century; "screw" for instance hardly retains a vestige of sexual connotation. What are you afraid of
Is it that Has Dick Cheney and crew got something on you; or that in your precience you had correctly predicted their domestic internet spying
Or is it just that I have a dirty mind

Perhaps because Microsoft Word is designed for the businesses, schools, and homes (including children) rather than pornographers, drug dealers, and curmudgeons.

...rather than pornographers, drug dealers, and curmudgeons. Yeahbut I'm guessing most would agree (even in this case) that the three monkey approach doesn't help or make any situation go away or any better... 'cept for maybe... bad *hollywood...

Oh one of my teen age word memories come from the show Hair--i remember hearing the sound track album-(before i saw the show)
Remember that wonderful song?
I didn't know all the words they used! Off to the dictionary i scampered.. i was the first nice catholic girl on the block to know the word felacio, and the meaning of it.. [i suppose i should add a blush emoticon here.. but..]
Why do these words sound so nasty was one of my favorite songs from that show! i was a word nerd before i heard it,--but it moved me to a new level!

JFTR, dale's list of words is certainly in MS Word's dictionary. there are many, many such words which are not in the thesaurus, which by design is a less compendious compendium.
now, I have a complaint about words that are NOT in the dictionary...

Aye, tsuwm is right Dale, there are really a lot of words that don't appear in MS Word thesaurus, most of them quite ordinary.
You should keep a good dictionary of synonyms and antonyms around. I find they are very handy, and much less limited than the dictionaries that come in word-type programs.
