I'm sure you'll get much and varied input; meanwhile, try entering your phrase here.

Don't know of a single word but welcome.
Out of sheer enchanted curiosity why do you need this word?

...wouldn't think so, or "imaginary creatures" would be quite sufficient.

Though I've always been fond of Thurber's "mythical beast."

phantom does not turn up in the reverse dictionary list. This list seems to contain just subsets of the category you are looking for, while you are looking for a superset.

There are more matches of your pattern, but we can only show you the first 1000. Try a more restrictive pattern.

I haven't figured out how to get the reverse dictionary to limit itself to the complete phrase and avoid components (such as 'imaginary', in this case); the list thus contains concepts such as 'dialogism' (An imaginary speech..) and 'meridian' (an imaginary great circle..)

There's "cryptofauna", but I think that only applies to sasquatches, yetis, nessie, and other things that people think might exist and not to fauns, satyrs, chimeras, manticores, pookas, ...
