A domain name is the part of a URL with a (usually) "www." in it, and a ".com", a ".net", etc. in it. For example, the domain name for AWADtalk is "wordsmith.org". It is basically a human-readable way to name a single computer on the inernet. The other way is an IP address which is four numbers (between 0 and 255, and called "octets") separated by periods, e.g., "127.0.0.1". There are special computers (or hosts) on the Internet called Domain Name Servers (DNS) that have databases of domain names mapped to IP addresses. Whenever you type in a URL, the domain name part is resolved by your browser software, using a DNS, into an IP address, so that your computer and other computer can swap data. Without them your computer could not send or receive data over the Net / Web. So, as eta said, it's not your problem.
