I had rather thought that either digerati or digirati might have made it into this year's list of hot, cool new words. I hear/read this term in reference to people who are cyber-hip, folks who know all about computers and such, and/or those who lead the computer industry into new areas of higher and higher technology.

Father I agree. Also, one might consider whether the singular form would be "digeratus"

I think it may have failed the criteria ( criterion ) of newness. Amazon has a book called Digerati, which was published in 1996.

Having now found out about the free OED, I can tell you that the first reference the OED has is: 1992 N.Y. Times 29 Jan. D7/1 His opinions, though often controversial, are taken seriously among the computer digerati.

Yeah, Bing, were you in Tarnation on buisness or just touring about?

He was actually in the White Sports Côte.

But there was a pink Tarnation involved.

One assumes him to have been in the company of Pat Boone.

Funny, I remember you as witty and kindly but not the talented bard that amuses us Awaders today. Did you take lessons?

No matter, Alex Williams, I would like to raise a glass in admiration of your skills in blending meter and rhyme with charm and humor.

Let's see...ah yes, Evan Williams bourbon 90-proof should do nicely.

To you, Alex Williams, I dub you a Bard of Awad.
Go now and sit in the purple velvet seats up front along with Maverick and Ted.

Alex, I loved the context (I once had a set of Taurus pedals)... but lo and behold as I was happily strolling and whistling along, I tripped over that one...

It was like... I was walking quickly between rails with one foot on each tie when suddenly the spacing changed...
