All colours bleed to red
Asleep on the ocean's bed
Drifting on empty seas
For all my days remaining

But would north be true?
Why should I?
Why should I cry for you?
Dark angels follow me
Over a godless sea
Mountains of endless falling,
For all my days remaining,

Why Should I Cry For You~Sting

The night was dark, rain falling down
Looked for my baby she's nowhere around
Traced her footsteps down to the shore
'Fraid she's gone forever more

I looked at the sea and it seemed to say
I took your baby from you away
I heard a voice crying in the deep
Come join me baby in my endless sleep

Why did we quarrel, why did we fight
Why did I leave her alone tonight
That's why her footsteps ran into the sea
That's why my baby is gone from me

I looked at the sea and it seemed to say
I took your baby from you away
I heard a voice crying in the deep
Come join me baby in my endless sleep

Ran in the water, heart full of fear
There in the breakers I saw her near
Reached for my baby, held her to me
Stole her back from the endless sleep

I looked at the sea and it seemed to say
You took your baby from me away
My heart cried out, she's mine to keep
I saved my baby from that endless sleep

I had a keeper, he helped me warn the ships at sea.
We had grown closer, 'till his joy meant everything to me.

And he was to marry, a girl who shone with beauty and light.
And they loved each other, and with me watched the sunsets into night .

Chorus:
And the waves crashing around me, the sand slips out to the sea.
And the winds that blow remind me, of what has been, and what can never be.

She had to leave us, my keeper he prayed for a safe return.
But when the night came, the weather to a raging storm had turned.

He watched her ship fight, but in vain against the wild and terrible WIND.
In me so helpless, as dashed against the rock she met her end.

My father was the keeper of the Eddystone Light
And he slept with a mermaid one fine night.
Of this union there came three:
A porpoise and a porgy and the other was me.
. . Yo-ho-ho, the wind blows free,
. . Oh, for the life on the rolling sea.

One night when I was a-trimmin' of the glim,
A-singin' a verse of the Evenin' Hymn,
A voice from the starboard shouted "Ahoy"
And there was me mother, a-sittin' on a buoy.
. . Yo-ho-ho, the wind blows free,
. . Oh, for the life on the rolling sea.

"What has become of my children three?"
My mother then she asked of me.
"One was exhibited as a talking fish
And the other was served on a chafing dish."
. . Yo-ho-ho, the wind blows free,
. . Oh, for the life on the rolling sea.

Well, the phosphorus flashed in her seaweed hair;
I looked again and me mother wasn't there.
A voice came echoing out of the night:
"To Hell with the keeper of the Eddystone Light!"
. . Yo-ho-ho, the wind blows free,
. . Oh, for the life on the rolling sea.

http://www.corfid.com/gl/wreck.htm (Scroll down for background music)

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they called 'Gitche Gumee'
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty.
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early.

The ship was the pride of the American side
Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
With a crew and good captain well seasoned
Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
When they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ship's bell rang
Could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'?

The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the captain did too,
T'was the witch of November come stealin'.
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the Gales of November came slashin'.
When afternoon came it was freezin' rain
In the face of a hurricane west wind.

When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin'.
Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya.
At Seven P.M. a main hatchway caved in, he said
Fellas, it's been good t'know ya
The captain wired in he had water comin' in
And the good ship and crew was in peril.
And later that night when his lights went outta sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Does any one know where the love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?
The searches all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
If they'd put fifteen more miles behind her.
They might have split up or they might have capsized;
May have broke deep and took water.
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the wives and the sons and the daughters.

Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
In the rooms of her ice-water mansion.
Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams;
The islands and bays are for sportsmen.
And farther below Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her,
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the Gales of November remembered.

In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed,
In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral.
The church bell chimed till it rang twenty-nine times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call 'Gitche Gumee'.
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early!

Pale was the wounded knight who bore the rowan shield;
loud and cruel were the ravens' cries that feasted on the field,
saying "Beck water cold and clear will never clean your wound -
there's none but the Witch of the Westmoreland can make thee hale and sound."

That unseeing eye, reminds me of a midnight dream.
It reminds me of somebody, that I have never seen.

Boys, you'd better be careful, about what you, say or do.
You'd better be careful boys, about what you, might say or do.
That Unseeing Eye, is, always, watching you.

Seems like you don't care, about what you say
Seems, like you don't care, about the places you go
Seems like you don't care, what you say or do
But that Unseeing Eye, is, watching you.

seems like

SEEMS LIKE A LONG TIME

(by T. Anderson; (c) 1970)

Nighttime is only the other side of daytime
but if you've ever waited for the sun
you know what it's like to wish daytime would come
And don't it seem like a long time
seem like a long time, seem like a long, long time

Hard times are only the other side of good times
but if you ever wished hard times were gone
you know what it's like to wish good times would come
And don't it seem like a long time
seem like a long time, seem like a long, long time

Help me, seems like a long time
seems like a long time, seems like a long, long time

And don't it seem like a long time
seem like a long time, seem like a long, long time
And don't it seem like a long time
seem like a long time, seem like a long, long time
And don't it seems like a long time
seems like a long time, seems like a long, long time

You know it makes me sad
seems like a long time, seems like a long time
seems like a long, long time

War time is only the other side of peace time
but if you've ever seen how wars are won
you know what it's like to wish peace time would come
And don't it seem like a long time
seem like a long time, seems like a long, long time

It's been a long time comin'
It's goin' to be a long time gone.
And it appears to be a long,
Appears to be a long,
Appears to be a long time,
Yes, a long, long, long, long time,
Before the dawn.

Turn, turn any corner.
Hear, you must hear what the people say,
You know there's something that's goin' on around here,
That surely, surely, surely won't stand the light of day.
And it appears to be a long, (yes it does)
Appears to be a long,
Appears to be a long time,
Such a long, long, time,
Before the dawn.

Lay down your sweet and weary head
Night is falling, you have come to journey's end.
Sleep now, and dream of the ones who came before.
They are calling from across the distant shore.

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see all of your fears will pass away,
safe in my arms you're only sleeping.

(refrain)
What can you see on the horizon?
Why do those white gulls call?
Across the sea a pale moon rises --
The ships have come to carry you home.
Dawn will turn to silver glass
A light on the water - All souls pass.

Hope fades into the world of night
through shadows falling out of memory and time.
Don't say, "We have come now to the end."
White shores are calling you and I will meet again.
And you'll be here in my arms just sleeping.

(refrain)

Annie Lennox "Into the West" (From the LOTR movie "Return of the King")

When I wake up early in the morning
Lift my head, I'm still yawning
When I'm in the middle of a dream
Stay in bed, float up stream

Please, don't wake me, no, don't shake me
Leave me where I am - I'm only sleeping

Six o'clock already
I was just in the middle of a dream
I was kissin' Valentino
By a crystal blue Italian stream
But I can't be late
'Cause then I guess I just won't get paid
These are the days
When you wish your bed was already made

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday
My I don't have to runday
It's just another manic Monday

Manic depression is touching my soul
I know what I want but I just don’t know
How to, go about gettin’ it
Feeling sweet feeling,
Drops from my fingers, fingers
Manic depression is catchin’ my soul

At eleven forty five the phone began to ring
I heard someone say "Sonny Boy" and I know that was my name.
"Who called you?" I don't know. I don't know.
But I'm trying to get in touch with my Baby to find out why
She disappoint me so.

I recieved a special delivery, I recieved a telegram
Then she called me long distance to find out, where was I am
"For what?" I don't know. Man, I just don't know
But I'm still trying to get in touch with my Baby to find out why
She disappoint me so.

I met the greyhoud bus. I met the train
But she wasn't on either one, and I wanna know what was the blame.
"You mean to tell me she didn't come, man?" I don't know. I don't know.
But I've got my head in my hands wondering, why did my Baby
Disappoint me so.

I Don't Know

Climb upon my knee Sonny boy
You are only 3 Sonny boy
You have no way of knowing
I have no way of showing
What you mean to me Sonny boy
When they are gray skies honey
I don't mind those gray skies
I'll still have you Sonny boy
Don't you know that
My friends may forsake me
Let them go on and forsake me
You're gonna pull me straight through
Sonny boy
You're sent from heaven
And I know your worst
You've made a heaven for me
Right here on earth.

If you want to go
where the rainbows end
you'll have to say goodbye
all our dreams come true
baby up ahead
and it's out where your memories lie
well the road's out before me
and the moon is shining bright
what I want you to remember
as I disappear tonight
today is grey skies
tomorrow's tears
you'll have to wait til yesterday is here

Death in the wilderness
It's a hopeless case I guess
Who's looking out for the wilder side
It will soon all be gone
You can tell it won't be long
We'll find the wilderness has died
We'll be the lonely one
Concrete, plastic human throng
Tellin' one another have you heard the news
We'll mow it down, we'll rape the ground
'til there's nothing left to abuse
The rabbit, he'll be gone
The bird will sing no song
The wolf, the bear, the lion too
The insect far and near, creatures like the deer
We'll put in cages a the zoo
Death in the wilderness
It's a hopeless case I guess
Who's looking out for the wilder side
It will soon all be gone
You can tell it won't be long
We'll find the wilderness has died
The stream will all dry out
The fish, gone no doubt
We'll have no animals to fear
The tree will be no more
We'll use it to build the store
Mountain scene will disappear
These changes takin' place
Will affect the human race
We'll all know it when it's gone
God save this planet now
We've got to help somehow
We've left it happen way too long
Death in the wilderness
It's a hopeless case I guess
Who's looking out for the wilder side
It will soon all be gone
You can tell it won't be long
We'll find the wilderness has died
We'll find the wilderness has died

Chorus:
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I was walking a ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

I've roamed and rambled and I've followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

The sun comes shining as I was strolling
The wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
The fog was lifting a voice come chanting
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

As I was walkin' - I saw a sign there
And that sign said - no tress passin'
But on the other side .... it didn't say nothin!
Now that side was made for you and me!

Chorus

In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple
Near the relief office - I see my people
And some are grumblin' and some are wonderin'
If this land's still made for you and me.

Chorus (2x)

You And Me Against The World
( Helen Reddy )

You and me against the world
Sometimes it feels like you and me against the world
When all the others turn their back and walk away
You can count on me to stay

Remember when the circus came to town
And you were frightened by the clown?
Wasn't it nice to be around someone that you knew?
Someone who was big and strong and looking out for

You and me against the world
Sometimes it feels like you and me against the world
And for all the times we've cried I always felt that
The odds were on our side

And when one of us is gone
And one of us is left to carry on
Then remembering will have to do
Our memories alone will get us through
Think about the days of me and you
Of you and me against the world

Remember when the circus came to town
And you were frightened by the clown?
Wasn't it nice to be around someone that you knew?
Someone who was big and strong and looking out for

You and me against the world
Sometimes it feels like you and me against the world
And for all the times we've cried I always felt that
The odds were on our side

And when one of us is gone
And one of us is left to carry on
Then remembering will have to do
Our memories alone will get us through
Think about the days of me and you
Of you and me against the world
You and me against the world
You and me against the world

Oh a sleeping drunkard up in central park
Or the lion hunter in the jungle dark

Or the chinese dentist or the british queen
They all fit together in the same machine

Nice, nice, very nice
Nice, nice, very nice
So many people in the same device

Oh a whirling dervish and a dancing bear
Or a ginger rogers and a fred astaire

Or a teenage rocker or the girls in france
Yes, we all are partners in this cosmic dance

Nice, nice, very nice
Nice, nice, very nice
So many people in the same device

I wanted all things to make sense
So we'd be happy instead of tense

Oh a sleeping drunkard up in central park
Or the lion hunter in the jungle dark

Or the chinese dentist or the british queen
They all fit together in the same machine

Nice, nice, very nice
Nice, nice, very nice
So many people in the same device
So many people in the same device
