Betsy suggested we start this game anew, so here's the steenkin' rulz:

A line (or two) of lyrics, followed by the name of the song and the performer or lyricist's name starts the game. The next to reply takes one (or two) words from that lyric and posts a line (or two) from another song that contains the same word (or two). And so on...

Here's the beginning lyric:

I don't know but I been told, a big-legged woman ain't got no soul.

Soul love - the priest that tastes the word and
Told of love - and how my God on high is
All love - though reaching up my loneliness
evolves
By the blindness that surrounds him

No fair! I read Connie's initial post and prepared to respond with the following:

"Oh, I get the blues if the rhythm ain't got no soull
You got to keep it rollin'."

~Rollin', Garth Brooks

Then Maverick snuck in and posted first. Grrrr. Okay.

"The priest sat in the airport bar
He was wearing his father’s tie
And his eyes looked into my eyes so far
Whenever the words ran dry"

~The Priest Joni Mitchell

They, said some day you'll find
All who love are blind
When you heart's on fire
You must realize
Smoke gets in your eyes

So I chaffed them, and I gaily laughed
To think they would doubt our love
And yet today, my love has gone away
I am without my love

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes - The Platters (circa 1958)

"So I chaffed them, and I gaily laughed"
You seldom hear chaffing lyrics like that anymore.

"And as in agony of death with blood his lips were wet,
The Prussian Major gaily laughed, and lit a cigarette."

"This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today

For here
Am I sitting in a tin can
Far above the world
Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do

Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles
I'm feeling very still
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much she knows"

Worked all the summer, and worked all the fall
I had to take my Christmas, in my overall
But now she gone, and I don't worry
Because I'm sitting on top of the world

Goin' down to the freight yard, just to meet a freight train
I'm gonna leave this town, work's done got hard
But now she gone, and I don't worry
'Cause I'm sitting on top of the world.

a dracula moon in a black disguise
was making its way back to its
pre-paid room at the St. Moritz Hotel (scat)
and the El train came tumbling across the trestles and it sounded
like the ghost of Gene Krupa

Said that I'm like fallin' from grace.
You'd never know it to look at me.
Under the Dracula moon.
Love comes down any way it wants to.
Doesn't ask for your permission.
Open up your arms or it will break you in two.
- Joan Osborne, Dracula Moon

"I'll wait
'Til your love comes down
I'm coming straight for your heart
No way
You can stop me now
As fine as you are "

~Eddie VanHalen, I'll wait
