Nice thread, eta! We haven't done one of these in a couple of years...

Well. Bach, Mozart and Beethoven aside (being horses of a different concourse): I like bluegrass/Celtic (will have to look up Alex's Nightingale ), boomer oldies (especially Motown), Dylan and L Cohen and Joni Mitchell and all them folky types, folk (roots?) music from just about any country -- from down n dirty samba to the glorious male voices of Georgian choirs, Russian liturgical chant, classical Middle Eastern/Sfardic and South Indian music... it'd probably be quicker to say what I don't like: heavy metal, "mainstream" country, rap/hip-hop and whatever the kids are listening to nowadays [/curmudgeon].

I've recently discovered Heinrich Biber, a Baroque composer with a sense of humor (must have been the PDQ Bach of his time ) and am listening to him as well as anything NPR happens to be playing. Also listening to Mediæval, Renaissance and Baroque Christmas music as befits the season.
