For those unfamiiar with the English Pub, and who wonder about the strange names under which they operate, I should explain that The Boot and Shoe probably is a reference to the high price of alcohol in the UK. You have to be well heeled to drink in the place, especialy if you have your drink laced with spirits, and only buy drink there if your tongue is hanging out.
Because of this, you are frequently the sole occupant.
