The plot was.... a team of highly skilled agents would enter the subconsciousness mind of a subject with the view of extracting and stealing valuable secrets while interacting in the 'dream' which was manipulated. My point is.....each 'agent' would carry something personal that only they knew, that kept them grounded, so they would recognise what was 'real' or what was the manufactured 'dream'. But I know in rehab the 'chips" (coin-like)we give out for 30 days, 2 months,etc. are carried like "talismans". A person is given one for 24 hours sober/clean, then a month, 2 months, 3 months. Then 1,2,3,etc. years. When given they are usually passed around to everyone in the room, and these put their karma, luck, prayers,etc. on it for the person, who then may carry it in pocket, wallet etc. as inspiration to keep sobriety. So many variations for one puzzle - types of cuts, number of pieces etc. The onliest problem is dragging a piece really slows you down. In real life you would just pick it up, but then here you can choose cuts!! If, eg., an alcoholic cannot wait for the 5 pm closing bell so as to have a drink, that is pre-occupation. "I'll just have one more" is compulsion.
