Presumably this is an actual organization:
In the tiny town of Janice, people turned the Baptist church into a homeless shelter and food kitchen. Wooden pews were stacked with jars of baby food, diapers, ibuprofen and socks.

And these supplies didn't come from the government. Rather, the church's pastor, the Rev. Dean Cook, had them trucked in from Tennessee by his fellow board members at a nonprofit group, Coonhunters for Christ.

Thanks, eta, for patching me through so I could use your computer.

And thanks, Bingley--I was hoping the "organization" would be some kind of myth, but my fear was that it was indeed not outside the bounds of reality, and in fact I just found a site for coonhunters that says:
The Professional Kennel Club has a group of christian coonhunters called Coonhunters for Christ. They appear at all the major hunts & witness to other hunters & spread the words of Christ.

(Guide),

Man. I reckon no matter what your interest is, you can find some group somewhere that shares it.

I believe that's a splinter group of the Ale and Quail Club: The Flying Spaghetti Monster Spotters.
