My TV guide had an article about the return of a "formerly scandalized" TV star. Has scandalized ever meant the subject or cause of a scandal as it was used in this case?

In that great reference guide inside my head, I always thought it was the fans who were scandalized when an idol misbehaved. Wrong?

There's a song out there called "He Scandalized my Name" in which the singer is complaining about scurrilous gossip spread about her.
