Recently, the machinery used to work animal pelts into fine fur garments was fitted with a new form of fastener. A form of heavy-duty stapler, the new fastener is distinctive in appearance, as it is enclosed in a lightly-hued plastic cover. The color-coded covers are not merely decorative, however, since the tint of a cover signifies the gauge of the enclosed fastener … the lighter the color, the larger the gauge. Furriers have been most pleased with the result, and have successfully used the machines to form high-quality skins into intricate designs.
